    About this yarn

Amano Riti is a light worsted weight yarn made from 100% Patagonian merino wool. It knits up with clear stitch definition and a soft, comfortable feel. Riti’s non-superwash wool blocks cleanly and holds its shape over time, which makes it a dependable choice for sweaters, hats, cowls and cozy wraps.

Riti worked up beautifully in Sara’s Eva Cardigan by Petiteknit, and is one of several Amano yarns that we carry. For a fingering weight from Amano, see Chaski, and for all our Amano options, view the Amano Yarn Collection.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Have more questions? Visit our contact page and we will help you choose.

    What is Patagonian merino?

Merino wool from sheep raised in Patagonia, at the southern tip of South America. Merino is one of the finest wools there is, which is why Riti feels so smooth and soft in your hands and against your skin.

Is Riti a worsted or a DK?

Riti is listed by Amano as a light worsted weight, and though we stock it in the worsted section of the shop, we’ve seen beautiful projects made at both DK and worsted weight gauges. We recommend it as a heavy DK or light worsted. If you’re not sure whether this yarn will work for your project, make a gauge swatch to see if you like the way your fabric looks at your desired stitch count.

    How do I wash it?

Hand wash in cool water, using a no-rinse wool wash like Soak, and lay flat to dry.

    Is merino wool itchy?

We do not think so! Merino has a much finer fiber than many other wools, so it feels smooth and soft rather than prickly, and most knitters are happy wearing it right against the skin.

How much yarn do I need?

Referencing your pattern and your desired size & gauge is the best way to ensure you will have enough yarn! Sara knit her Eva Cardigan by Petiteknit in a size M, which required 4 skeins of Riti.

We always recommend Ravelry as an all-encompassing pattern database in the shop. Many patterns on Ravelry estimate the yarn amount you will need for the size you are looking to make, but at Apricot Yarn & Supply, we can always offer advice if your pattern is unclear, you are working freehand, or something else!
