Is Kelbourne Woolens Camper Yarn soft enough for garments worn next to the skin?

Absolutely! Although Kelbourne Woolens Camper Yarn is inspired by traditional Shetland wool yarns, customers consistently rate it 5-stars for its softness. The 100% wool has a crisp hand that softens beautifully with each wash, making it totally comfortable for sweaters, shawls, and accessories worn close to the skin. If you love classic wool yarn with a touch of modern softness, this is a great choice.

How durable is Kelbourne Woolens Camper Yarn for everyday wear?

Kelbourne Woolens Camper Yarn is made from resilient 100% wool and is expertly spun into a 2-ply structure. This means your finished projects—whether sweaters, scarves, or hats—can stand up to regular use without losing their shape. The yarn’s robust spin provides excellent longevity and resistance to pilling, so your handknits will look great season after season.

What colors are available, and do the shades work well for colorwork projects?

Camper yarn comes in 16 gorgeous heathered shades, including both versatile neutrals and vibrant brights. The subtle heathering in each shade adds depth and interest to colorwork, making it especially eye-catching in stranded knitting or Fair Isle designs. Whether you're pairing several colors for a statement project or sticking to one favorite, the range makes it easy to find the perfect match for your next creative venture.

How should I care for items made with Kelbourne Woolens Camper Yarn?

To keep your handknit treasures looking their best, it’s important to hand wash your Kelbourne Woolens Camper Yarn projects in cool water. After washing, gently squeeze out excess water (don’t wring!) and lay flat to dry. This care routine helps the wool yarn maintain its shape, softness, and crisp stitch definition for years to come.

What types of projects is Kelbourne Woolens Camper Yarn best for?

Kelbourne Woolens Camper Yarn is a versatile fingering weight wool yarn, perfect for everything from sweaters and shawls to lightweight hats and heirloom accessories. Its firm structure gives superb stitch definition, making it ideal for lace, cables, and traditional colorwork patterns. Plus, it pairs beautifully with popular patterns like the Tin Can Knits 'Love Note' Sweater, and even coordinates with other Kelbourne Woolens yarns if you want to get creative!
