    About this yarn

    Berroco Mistico is one of our few worsted weight yarns with a built in halo! Mistico combines cotton, alpaca, wool, and nylon for a strand with a multicolor core and a solid halo. The resulting fabric when knit or crocheted feels light and airy for a worsted weight yarn.

    Written specifically for this yarn, our Mistico Wrap pattern is a free and beginner-friendly project that looks and feels incredible.

    How much yarn do I need for a sweater?

    Referencing your pattern and your desired size & gauge is the best way to ensure you will have enough yarn! For a general example, knitting an adult M of the Flax worsted sweater by Tin Can Knits calls for 1160yd of a worsted weight yarn, or just over 6 skeins of Berroco Mistico.

    We always recommend Ravelry as an all-encompassing pattern database in the shop. Many patterns on Ravelry estimate the yarn amount you will need for the size you are looking to make, but at Apricot Yarn & Supply, we can always offer advice if your pattern is unclear, you are working freehand, or something else!

    What can I make with worsted weight yarn like Berroco Mistico?

    Why cotton, alpaca, wool, and nylon?

    The cotton and wool in this yarn form the twisted core of the strand, and the wool and alpaca surround this core to form a soft halo. This combination is both structured and soft, and one of the few yarns we carry in the worsted weight with a built-in halo, a texture typically achieved by holding a wool or cotton yarn strand together with a mohair or alpaca strand.
