What is aloe vera viscose?

It is a plant-based fiber made from aloe vera, processed into a viscose in a similar way to bamboo or eucalyptus fibers. In a yarn it behaves like a soft, slightly slippery filament, which is what gives Vera its smooth surface and cool hand.

What does moisture-wicking mean in a yarn?

It means the fiber moves moisture away from the skin rather than holding it against you. In practice that makes a garment more comfortable in heat, which is why this blend suits summer tops and layering pieces better than a plain cotton would.

Is it good for crochet as well as knitting?

Yes, every yarn can be used for crochet as well as knitting! Berroco includes gauge recommendations for both knitting and crochet using Vera: 20 to 22 stitches over 4 inches, or 18 single crochet over 4 inches.

What should I make with it?

Lightweight garments, shawls and layering pieces. It is a DK weight, so it works up faster than a fingering while still making a fabric light enough to wear in warm weather.

How much yarn do I need?

Referencing your pattern and your desired size & gauge is the best way to ensure you will have enough yarn! For a general example, knitting our size 39” sample of the Bliss Tank by Two Little Plums required two skeins of Berroco Vera.
